The
Default IP is 192.168.1.3 |

What
is the default password on the RWA? |
The
default password is "admin" (with out the quotes) |

What
are the correct radio output settings on the RWA's? |
For the 400mW
RWA units set the power to 26dBm, for the 600mW set to 28dBm |
| |
How
many clients can each radio support on the RWA's? |
The RWA-5000
and 3000 units can handle 60-125 customers per radio.
Note while is possible to have standard users at the max value of
125 Demarc assume as setup where the customers are setup with only
basic access (email, http) and low bandwidth 128Kbps. |
| |
What
are some reasons why RWA's are not making a wireless link? |
- Check the
output power of the radio, confirm its not at default of 1, but
instead meets the power of the radio.
- Check the
signal from the client as well as going to the client, is it an
acceptable level? We would like to see a -75 and above.
- Check to
make sure here a clear Fresnel zone between the AP and the client.

What is NMS? |
RW-NMS stands for ReliaWave Network Management Software. It is a java client used to configure the RWA series of radios with ease and full functionality available, where as the web interface and SSH interfaces are limited to the features available. |
| |
Where can I download the NMS? |

Can my RWA act as a bridge, and bridge two networks? |
Yes, the RWA series of radios can easily bridge two networks together. In order to make this work easily, you’ll need to make sure a few things are in place; a clear wireless line of sight, a pair of either the RWA CPE units with integrated antennas (or either of the 5000 series with necessary antennas and cables) and a place to mount them. You’ll also need some Ethernet cables to create a POE run for these, so that the power supplies can be in a temperature controlled environment. |
| |
Can my RWA act as a client to my neighbors wireless to help me access his wireless internet that he set up for me to use? |
Yes, your RWA can easily be configured as a client to any access point. |
| |
Can my RWA be used with encryption? |
Yes the RWA product line supports WEP, WPA, and WPA2. |
| |
How do I mount my RWA 5000? |
With the Ethernet coupler facing down, use the mounting brackets to mount it via the U-bolt that comes with it to a pole or a mast. You will want to mount the coupler so that it faces downwards. |
| |
How do I mount my RWA CPE units? |
You use the L bracket and mounting kit in combination with each other to mount the CPE to a mast or a pole. You will want to mount the coupler so that it faces downwards. |
| |
On my RWA CPE units, which way is facing horizontal, and which way is facing vertical? |
The CPE with integrated antenna has two sides, one is longer than the other, when the longer sides are on the top/bottom and you’ve positioned the back lid so the coupler faces down, it is in vertical polarization. When you rotate the backplate 90º and put the long edges on the left/right of the unit with the coupler facing down, it is in horizontal polarity. |
| |
What do I set the output power to on my RWA CPE? |
You set the TX power to a value equivalent to the DBM to watt conversion. So if you have a 400mw card you would set your TX power to 26. When your have a 100mw card, set your output power to 20 and when you’re at 600mw, set your output power to 28. Remember to stay within the FCC guidelines for PTMP or PTP links if you’re within the jurisdiction of the FCC. |
| |
Are the RWA 5000 series plug and play? |
These devices are highly sophisticated access points that can be configured in a simple bridge configuration in minutes, or a more complex configuration and involving routing. |
| |
Can I run a second Ethernet cable to the second Ethernet port in my RWA and connect a second device to it? |
Yes, you can easily run a second Ethernet line to the second Ethernet port and have the data be routed through it (or bridged through from one port to the other) and used to manage bandwidth to another device. |
| |
What is the longest POE run your RWA units can use? |
The longest POE run would be determined by the voltage you’re receiving at the end of the run. The voltage is determined by the quality of the cable, the length of the cable and how much you cable loss you are experiencing. The shorter the run overall, the better, as you’ll have less cable loss involved. |
| |
What frequency do the RWA units support? |
2312Mhz-2732Mhz
5000Mhz-6085Mhz
868Mhz-928Mhz |
| |
Does the RWA series support MAC based authentication? |
Yes, the RWA series have what is called an “access control list”, this list is what you would use to accomplish the MAC based authentication. |
| |
I can see the link light on the switch from the RWA, but I can’t log in, why? |
The most likely reason you can’t log into is because your network card isn’t set up on the correct subnet. So you’ll need to change it to a hardcoded IP address in the configurations on your laptop within the same subnet. |
| |
On an RWA what does it mean when my noise floor is higher than the signal I’m seeing from the clients? |
That means that your noise/interference levels are higher than the received signal strength |
| |
How do you reset an RWA 5000 series to default configurations? |
Connect the serial port on the board with a DB9 null modem cable to your computer’s serial port. Open up a hyperterminal session using the following settings:
Bits per second – 115200
Data bits – 8
Parity – None
Stop bits – 1
Flow control – None
Once the session is open, null modem cable connected, please power the device on and wait for it to finish booting up. After it finishes, hit the enter key, type in setup, and reset to defaults should be an option for you. Select the option, and proceed with the directions on your screen. |
| |
How do you reset an RWA CPE to defaults? |
On the bottom side of the board (not visible when mounted properly in the enclosure) there is a little button. During the boot up sequence, you’ll need to count to 5 (approx 5 seconds) from power up to 5 seconds, at the 5 second mark there is a pair of LED’s that flash on and then right back off. Right at that time (right before or as they turn on) press and hold the reset button in. The LED pattern will change and when it changes (slow steady blink) the unit is reset. Power cycle it 2 times, and you should be at defaults, boot up time takes about 45 seconds to a minute. |
